05/10/2007:// English junior surfers are set to benefit from a Youth Development Coaching Clinic in Cornwall.
The clinic takes place at Fistral Beach and will use the best coaching team in Britain to help 10-17 year old surfers and bodyboarders improve not only their riding technique but also their fitness, diet, chances of getting sponsorship, contest conditioning and general attitude and approach to a career in the sport.
Top surf photographer and British Surf Team coach Ester Spears will be on hand to shoot the action and supply pupils with the lifestyle and action images needed to build a sponsorship portfolio.
As well as in-water surf coaching from British Junior Team Coach Carlos Barata, the groms will also receive two video analysis sessions with feedback from top British competitor Llewellyn Whittaker, fitness and diet coaching from Sports Scientist Glenn Eldridge and help on how to approach sponsors.
The sport of surfing brings £64 million into the Cornish economy each year.
The goal of these weekends is to support and develop surfing for future talents and make youngsters aware that a professional career in surfing is a viable possibility if they focus early on their goal.
A portion of the profits from the event which is being staged on October 13 and 14 will be re-invested back into the English Surfing Federation to promote English surfing and support the English Surf team.
