News Homeblown Offsets its Carbon Emissions

biofoam maker hooks up with Carbonfund.org by Howard Swanwick

07/09/2007:// Homeblown US announced today that it offset its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, the country's leading carbon reduction and offset organization. Homeblown has offset all energy use including our delivery truck and shipping to areas outside California. This practical step highlights Homeblown US's commitment to be a leader in the surfboard community and walk the walk of building a more sustainable product and business.

Homeblown US's stakeholders are very concerned about global warming. Considering the implications of climate change, carbon offsets through Carbonfund.org are a natural extension of the work Homeblown US does on behalf of its stakeholders and surfers everywhere.

Our Mission is to continually pursue environmentally responsible alternatives in surfboard construction. However current technology can only take us so far therefore the balance of what we can't reuse or recycle is offset through CarbonFund.org and we are now 100% carbon free.

The CarbonFree Surfing Program has inspired a number of industry leaders. To date, Homeblown US is the first to sign on in their field: First Carbon Neutral-Hardgoods Surfing Products Company.

Carbonfund.org is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make carbon offsets and climate protection easy, affordable and a normal way of life for every individual and business.

Homeblown US was started in early 2006. Originating in the UK with the development of MDI surfblanks, Homeblown took the first step in doing something a little "less bad" with toxic surfboard technology. Homeblown US then went on to develop Biofoam – the first plant based surfblank with nearly 50% of the mix coming from a domestic organic soy source. Homeblown US is also a member of 1% for the Planet and the Surf Industry manufacturers Association.
