Cornwall Film Festival call for surf film makers
by Howard Swanwick
22/05/2007:// Laura Hardman, Festival Director said “Surf is an important cultural element of Cornwall and every year we receive films from the surf and extreme action genre. We felt it was important to support this area of specalism and so have a day dedicated to the art of surf film making.”
Last year acclaimed surf film maker Robin Kewell held a day workshop exploring the process of surf film making and took some brave people into the water to capture some shots. This was followed by ‘Board Shorts’, a programme of surf films and a party which was a sell out. In addition to inviting films to be part of this screening, Cornwall Film Festival are hoping to include more films by local film makers and are calling for applications.
Laura said “We are looking for films of all lengths, a variety will be selected for screening at Borad Shorts and the main Festival. We want to provide a broad representation of what is happening in surf and extreme action film making in Cornwall”.
To qualify for Cornwall Film Festival one member of the creative team (writer, director, producer) must be resident in Cornwall. Those interested in submitting a film should download an application form from www.cornwallfilmfestival.com. The deadline for free submissions is Tuesday 10th July 2007 at 6pm. The final deadline is Tuesday 24th July 2007.
