News Save Trestles - Call Republican Susan Davis to support her bill
For everyone who loves Trestles, San-O, Churches and Cottons

09/05/2007:// Today, the United States House of Representatives Armed Services Committee will be voting on the National Defense Authorization Act. Included in that piece of legislation is an amendment that would repeal several key exemptions previously secured by the TCA. The exemptions include a rider to a defense bill that allows the toll-road agency to override any state law prohibiting a freeway from crossing into a state park, as well as one that exempted the project from the Transportation Act, a federal law requiring highway builders to exhaust "all feasible and prudent" alternatives before paving over parkland.
The amendment was the work of the "Save Trestles/San Onofre" coalition who collaborated with San Diego Congresswoman Susan Davis.
If passed as written, the act "could kill the project."
"This has been in the works for some time now," said Surfrider Foundation's Assistant Environmental Director Mark Rauscher. "Given the potential for this effort, we've been trying to keep this as under the radar as possible"
Rep. Davis is already taking heat, largely from labor unions and other toll road advocates. Her office contacted us this morning and specifically asked if we could reach out to our supporters and ask them to call or email her office to support her efforts.
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VOICE YOUR SUPPORT OF TRESTLES!
