Eight of Britain's top junior surfers get training in France
by George Mojo
24/03/2007:// The Easter Project, is organised by the UK's Surf Solutions Team, and will involve rising surf stars Constantine Bay's Toby Donachie and Croyde trio Lyndon Wake, Alex Baker and Zak Lawton.
British champion Beth Mason, fellow Swansea surfer Gwen Spurlock, Croyde's Kathleen Spears, and Tassy Swallow, from St Ives, make up the squad travelling to wave rich region of Hossegor.
Head coach and north east surfer Joel Gray is being assisted on the trip by Matt Adams, from the Trevose Surf School, in North Cornwall.
As well as providing coaching support, Adams is also providing organic T-shirts for the whole team.
Another big pull is the addition of the training staff of Michael Pellegrino.
The invited surfers represent those at the forefront of what is happening on the junior scene in the UK at the moment.
The trip has been arranged just prior to the kick off of the main contest season and just prior to the start of the BPSA pro junior contest at Croyde just after the training session has been completed.
Last year, Gray took a party of seven British junior surfers on a special training trip to Oahu's North Shore. The group, which included Donachie, Wake, Swallows, Spears stayed between Rocky Point and Sunset Beach.
The squad surfed everyday at some of the world's top surf spots including Laniakea, Sunset, Monster Mush and Rocky Rights.
