BILLABONG PRO TEEN PERU 2006 UP AND COMING
The expectation is on for the Billabong Pro Teen Peru 2006, second stage of the South American classification for the ASP World Junior Championship 2007, and sixth of the ALAS Latin and Caribbean Tour Junior division that will take place at Señoritas, Peru from September 29 th until October the 1 st .
Last week, Billabong, the main sponsor of the contest, announced that the raise of prizes for the contest; with 10.000 for the men and 2.000 for the Ladies.
This is the first time in history that South American classifications are held out of Brazil, giving surfers that never before competed in this kind of contest, the chance to do it. Juniors from Argentina, Brasil, Chile, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Venezuela, Uruguay and Peru, will have representative in the competition.
Punta Hermosa - Latin Surfing Capital for the second time this year After the succes of the VII Panamerican Surfing Games, held this past January at Punta Rocas, Punta Hermosa, 40 kilometers south of Lima, once again is going to be the Latin Surfing capital. In this case, on the perfect lefts of Señoritas, that at the time of the contest, can break with 8 to 10 foot waves.
Brazilian are favourites A strong Brazilian contingent will be competing at Señoritas. One of the standouts is the 2004 World Pro Junior Champ, Pablo Paulinho, from the state of Ceará at Brazil´s North East.
Brazil is the country with more world junior victories, since the event started in 1998, won in 2000, 2003 and 2004. The level of Brazilian Surfers added to some of the finest Hispanic-American Juniors will make of this a great surfing show.
The South American Surfing classfications have three stages: 1. Río de Janeiro October 22 - 24 September 2. Punta Hermosa, September 29 - October 1st 3. Camburí, San Pablo, October 20 - 22
-Top four under 21 male surfers and the best Lady, will in January of 2007 compete against the best of each region. -Some of the best surfers in history were champs in the ASP World Junior contest
