News Reward for lost MR Twin Fin

Mark Richards board is stolen by George Mojo

14/09/2006:// A surfboard shaped by Australian four-times world professional champion Mark Richards has been stolen from a British surf shop.

The MR twin fin is similar to the one which earned the Wounded Gull a place in surfing history back in the 1980s.

The twinnie was taken from the Quiksilver Boardriders Shop in Newquay on the ninth of September and the owners are offering a £200 reward for its safe return.

The board belonged to Plymouth's Surfing Life and has an orange deck, with the a large MR logo near the nose. The underneath is white with a swallow tail.

A regular visitor to Britain in recent years, Richards - who currently shapes boards in his home town of Newcastle in Australia, recently visited the south of England along with four other surfing legends on a special surfboard shapers tour.

After major success on the ASP pro tour in the 80s, Richards, who is married with three children, came back from retirement to clinch the Over-40s division of the World Masters Championships at Bundoran, in Southern Ireland.

The following year he was in the Channel Islands aboard promoting environmental awareness of the British Isles coastline.
