News Clean sweep for Haworth in Wales

Junior longboard legend wins main event by Howard Swanwick

01/08/2006:// Local Junior Long board legend, Ben Haworth took a trip to South Wales this Saturday to compete in the Porthcawl Malibu club league contest.

This was the second of the clubs league events for this season. At the last event Ben won the junior long board division and came second in the junior short board event.

This time Ben decided to enter 3 of the 4 divisions, these being junior short board, junior long board and open long board. Ben was the standout surfer throughout the contest and this showed in the end results as he went on to win all the divisions he entered.
These were fantastic results for the 16 year old, particularly winning the junior short board event, as he is well known for his successes in long boarding, this proving that he can also beat some of the top Welsh junior short boarders.

Ben was tipped to win the junior long board and didn’t disappoint with a wonderful display of progressive and traditional moves. The open long board event was more of a challenge with some experienced competitors in the race. However Ben excelled and easily won the main event.
