Two Time Billabong XXL Award Winner on July 29th by Howard Swanwick

28/07/2006:// Jamilah Star, known by her friends as “JAM*STAR”, has joined Inkwell Surf & Skate Club as Ambassador.

“JAM*STAR”, will help Inkwell Surf with their first ”Giving Back to the Community Day on the Beach”, on July 29, 2006. Inkwell Surf & Skate Club, a non-profit organization, which offers disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience non-traditional sports, is taking a local homeless shelter for women and their children to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. Each family will be given the opportunity to learn the basics of surfing. They will also get a chance to watch the Bank of the West Beach Games and the US Open Surfing taking place in Huntington Beach, CA.

The winner of the prestigious Billabong XXL Awards for her over-all performance in 2005 & 2006, both years that the award was given said, “ I want to have the access where I can teach children how to be healthy and maintain their natural environment. Not just children, but everyone. I always feel it is my responsibility to do so”. Inkwell Surf is also committed to helping keep our beaches clean with three beach clean-ups a year.

Rhonda Harper, Executive Director, of Inkwell Surf says, “We are so excited that JAM*STAR is joining us for this special day. This will be an experience that will last a lifetime for these families. Our communities need leaders, JAM*STAR, is definitely a positive role model and community leader.”
