Surfboard Tracker.com reaches new heights by Howard Swanwick

21/06/2006:// Surfboard Tracker.com announced the engagement of Floridian company, The Board Factory, Classic Malibu, Australia, Trim Surfboards Ltd, UK, Laminations and Co, UK and Surftoohoo Surfboards in Japan.

"It's all very interesting," said Smith from SBT, "the partnerships we are building are all formed by companies who are at the very embryonic stage of surfboard manufacture".

Peter White of Classic Malibu has been heavily involved in the distribution of South Coast and Burford blanks around Australia and Europe since the demise of Clark foam.

"This all started off whilst on my travel's around Europe when I
stumbled across Andrew at SBT. The concept intrigued me so much I offered to help
” said White.

"Surfboard tracker has a lot to offer, delivering a message to would be thieves by cutting down the market of disposal for stolen boards." he added.

The overwhelming feeling towards SBT is that is it a neccessary and welcome advance.

Registered boards on SBT's system are less likely to be targeted by thieves than a board which is not electronically protected. It is even possible to add other items for example wetsuits, water proof camera's and other boards, providing they are chipped, free of charge. In this way it, caters for owners of multiple boards. It is an effective and extremely cheap method of protecting your surf gear.

"The concept is great and the majority of my boards will be chipped from here on" White stated.

The Board Factory in Florida are rolling out the product across the Gulf and East Coast of the United States, who have a strong distribution network. Eddy Sixberry, of The Board Factory, has shown great enthusiasm for distributing the chip across the whole USA.

"Enquiry's have been coming in from all over the world, the interest has been timely in view of our product launch for the end of June." said Smith.

"SBT is looking for distributors and board manufacturers to join us, we know the big boys are out there and watching our development" he added.

With aspirations to be working with the majority of the surfing industry and federations over the next two to three years, SBT is on a roll across the globe.

Meanwhile team rider Elliot Dudley has departed for the World Longboarding Championships in Costa Rica, after endorsing the product here in the UK during the early stages of development.
