News World cup campaign

Wildcoast director heads to Germany by Howard Swanwick

18/06/2006:// With the Wolrd Cup in full swing Wildcoast Director Serge Dedina has packed his bags and headed for Germany to raise awareness in the Defend the Sea World Soccer Cup Campaign in Germany from June 16-24th.

Enlisting the help of the Mexican soccer's charismatic ex goalie Jorge Campos and striker "Kikin" Fonseca, Wildcoast will be attending the event over eight consecutive days.

"Defiende el Mar (Defend the Sea) is a movement in which all individuals, organizations and communities play a very important role. Everyone should be a part of it. We all need to have a basic knowledge of what is happening in our oceans, so we can take action and defend the sea."

Dedina explains "The oceans are in danger. We tend to think of the sea as an infinite resource but in the last 15 years the fish populations have diminished drastically and some species have even disappeared. In order to satisfy the basic human needs of both future and present generations, we must change the way in which we use our oceans, or we will devastate this vast but finite resource."

Wildcoast have enlisted the help of their mermaid of ocean conservation DORISMAR and music idols MANA and Los Tigres del Norte, and will be in Germany hoping to raise awareness with millions of Mexican soccer fans. They will also be reporting for Telemundo and Univision networks for Latino USA and will make an attempt to get as much media attention as they can.
