News BPSA toasts Fosters support

[Keeping clear of the froth]

Brewer supports BPSA for second year by George Mojo

04/06/2006:// Foster’s are supporting the British Professional Surfing Association Tour in 2006 for the second year running.

The BPSA was formed in 1998 by UK Surf promotions Ltd specifically to raise the profile of British Surfing and provide a platform for surfers to further their abilities and increase sponsorship opportunities within the surf industry. The support from Foster’s sponsorship of the tour enables these objectives to be met and provides a positive benefit to the industry’s growth.

The standard of our British competitors develops year on year. Last month’s WQS O’Neil Highland Open contest saw Newquay’s Russell Winter beat a huge crowd of Internationals to take first place in an outstanding display of surfing, proving the Brits do have what it takes to make their mark on the International scene. Sponsorship of the BPSA tour from a brand such as Foster’s ensures the standard of the British surfing and the success of British surfers competing at high level International contests will continue to grow.

For Foster’s the continued support targets the Foster’s key customer and reinstates the brand’s association with surfing and the Australiana-inspired lifestyle. On each leg of the tour Foster’s provide a free Barbie for surfers which is set-up to feed competitors throughout the events.

Andy Lewis Brand Manager at Foster’s adds: “Foster's lager is delighted to be renewing its association with the British Pro Surfing Association. The tour allows Foster's to create a fantastic brand experience for surfers and consumers alike in a typically Foster's positive-laid-back way by tapping into the aspirational surf & associated beach lifestyle. It brings with it the opportunity to build real affinity and appeal with our core target market and the surfing community.

Currently one of the biggest corporate sponsors of International surfing, Foster’s strengthen their credible association through their investment within key growth areas of the industry, including the Foster’s ASP World Tours and the British Pro Surfers Association.
