News Conservation group requests investigation into Bajaqua contract
KPBS SAN DIEGO (2006-03-01) A San Diego conservation group is asking the U.S. Attorney's office to investigate the financial relationship between two former Congressmen, a sitting Congressman and the sewage treatment company Bajagua.

06/03/2006:// KPBS SAN DIEGO (2006-03-01) A San Diego conservation group is asking the U.S. Attorney's office to investigate the financial relationship between two former Congressmen, a sitting Congressman and the sewage treatment company Bajagua. The company Bajagua recently signed a multi-million dollar contract with the United States to build a sewage treatment plant in Tijuana. KPBS reporter Amy Isackson has details.
Wildcoast Conservation director Serge Dedina wants the U.S. Attorney to determine if there was a quid-pro-quo between the sewage project and former Congressmen Brian Bilbray, Randy Cunningham and current Congressman Bob Filner. Filner's office said he3 was unavailable to comment. Cunningham is also unavailable pending his bribery sentencing this Friday.
Bilbray says he did receive $35,000 to lobby on behalf of Bajagua, but he did nothing wrong.
Bilbray: "I have disclosed everything and have always disclosed it."
Bilbray says Dedina's accusations are a personal vendetta. However, State Assemblywoman Lori Saldana is also calling for a closer look at the Bajagua contract.
