News South Africa calls

[Barrie Hall, kneeling.]

British coach required by George Mojo

18/01/2006:// Top British surf coach Barrie Hall has been passing on his skills to some of South Africa's most influential players.

Hall, the British Surf Association's director of coaching at Fistral Beach, in Newquay, held a series of courses in Durban and Cape Town.

The level 2 and 3 courses dealt with advanced surfing techniques and video analysis as well as sport science modules on fitness and nutrition. Judgings, tactics, contest preparation, performance evaluation and the staffing roles and duties of contest officials were also covered.

The material has been bought and adopted by Surfing South Africa, the National Governing Body for the sport in the country.

Coaches taking part were the cream of the crop in South Africa, with Springbok National team coaches for both Senior and junior teams all involved.
