Every September Surf Shop is the launch pad for new surf, skate and boardsports hardware and apparel, and for 2008 the organisers have created a dedicated outdoor demonstration area for visitors to test the kit for themselves. by Catherine Warren
14/08/2008:// There’s no better way to sample the latest hardware than seeing it in action or trying it out firsthand. New features for 2008 include live daily demos from King Ramps with brand sponsored riders on their newest ramp, and Surf Shop also welcomes back Street Surfing in action over the three days.
In addition, 2008 brings the launch of a brand new sport that allows riders to combine the moves of surfing, skate and snowboarding, it’s so new the founders say the tricks haven’t even been named yet! Brush Boarding is a new board sport that simulates primarily surfing and snowboarding. Different riders use varying board shapes when Brush Boarding. Surfers go for the longer boards so they can simulate carving down a wave; skateboarders go for the shortest boards so they can practice their tricks; snowboarders want it all, so they can move up and down the ramp.
“It’s a great way to bring board sports to people in an environmentally friendly and safe way”, says Founder Kyle Dent, “You don’t need to get wet, or wear a special outfit – just get on it. We’ve already had interest from sports events and activity centres – having only launched a couple of months ago, we have a busy summer ahead”.
The Brush Ramp can be seen at a number of extreme sports events and activity centres over the summer, and will be live in action for its trade show launch at Surf Shop. Come and find out why Pro and Semi-Pro riders say it’s awesome!
Visitors can also try out the new Indoboard in the Demonstration Area and raise money for charity at the same time, with the chance to win an Indoboard Training Pack.
