News Ergophobia and Transworld Surf Magazine to host America's Next Top Grommet

[Online Video Contest to Begin August 1, 2008]

Ergophobia, a surf and skate apparel brand for men and women, is pleased to announce its partnership with TransWorld SURF magazine in hosting the online surf video contest “America’s Next Top Grommet”. by Lindsay Robinson

02/07/2008:// The contest, a spoof off of the ever-popular TV show “America’s Next Top Model”, will give up-and-coming surfers the chance to score a paid sponsorship with Ergophobia.

The contest will open to the public on August 1, 2008 and will close on January 31, 2009. Each month, contestants aged 17 years or younger and sans an apparel sponsor, will have the chance to enter the contest by uploading original videos that include surf and lifestyle footage. The videos, at least 60 seconds in length, will then be reviewed by a panel of industry insiders from TransWorld SURF and Ergophobia. The entries will be judged on performance, difficulty of maneuvers, style, creativity and flare.

We’re stoked to bring this concept to the table and have TransWorld back it,” says Ergophobia Vice President, Pete DiSpirito. “Of course the level of surfing is most important, but we really want kids to focus on the creative aspect of the videos, too. This gives the entrants a chance to showcase not only their surf talent, but also their creativity, style and personality. Three very important things when choosing team riders.”

Each month, one finalist will receive an assortment of apparel from Ergophobia, a one-year free subscription to TransWorld SURF and he or she will then secure one of the six spots to win the grand prize and the title of “America’s Next Top Grommet”. The grand prize winner will win a one-year Ergophobia contract that includes a travel fund, contest entry fees and photo incentive. The grand prize winner will be announced on TransWorldSURF.com and in the magazine.

To learn more about the contest log on to www.TransWorldSURF.com or www.Ergophobia.com. Ergophobia’s pro surf team includes Shea Lopez, Wesley DeSouza, Matt Keenan, Luke Ditella, Josie Graves, Jensen Callaway, Alejo Marin and Brendan Buckley.
