News Finisterre nominated for ISPO awards

Cornish company nominated for Brand New and Eco Design Awards by Howard Swanwick

26/01/2008:// Finisterre - the first and only brand in the action sports world specialising in ethically committed technical product, inspired by surfing - has just been nominated for two awards by ISPO (Europe’s largest action sports body).

The first of the two awards - the Brand New Award, the world’s largest new brand award, made up of 261 competing brands, from 26 countries. Brands were chosen, following tests, demonstrations, analyses and in-depth discussions by a jury consisting of professional athletes and industry heads. All finalists were awarded a prime piece of tradeshow space, giving breakthrough brands the opportunity to showcase product at ISPO, Munich. Finisterre will be there from January 27th to the 30th, A3 hall, stand BN28. Come and see the line and meet the guys behind Finisterre.

The second of the two awards was the Volvo Eco-Sports Design Awards, the largest green awards in Europe. The Finisterre Storm Track jacket was nominated for this award. The jacket is a bio-mimetic waterproof/breathable parka made from recyclable polyester and manufactured in a facility run by nuns, as part as a social rehabilitation scheme. A total of 180 products were tried, tested and reviewed, from 27 countries and voted on, by a jury made up of professional athletes and industry heads. “We are relatively new to the industry and to be in the finals alongside companies that have been around for over 30 years, is a testament to our commitment to our core beliefs of sustainability and ethics - we have a lot more to come in the future as well” said designer Tom Podkolinski.

The winner will be presented with an award in Munich on the 29th of January, followed by a press conference. Finisterre will be at A3 hall, stand BN28.
